MiningWatch Canada aims for a world where Indigenous peoples can exercise their right to self-determination, where communities can consent to any mining activity, and where mine workers are guaranteed healthy and safe conditions. Affected communities have the necessary tools to protect their rights, their way of life and their environment against the potential or proven effects of mining activities. They also have effective access to compensation for harm caused by the mining industry.
The coalition’s mission is to engage Quebec in an in-depth reform of the exploration and exploitation of its mineral resources in order to allow the future development of the sector while ensuring increased protection of the environment and the quality of life of citizens.
