Located on territory of the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg (KZA) First Nations, La Petite-Nation forms a green triangle of proximity to Montreal, Ottawa\/Gatineau and Mont-Tremblant. In this bucolic region and modulated by its relief are hidden lakes that are the pride of its residents. It welcomes many vacationers attracted by the outdoors: nautical activities, hiking, biking, quadricycles, horseback riding, hunting and fishing. It is a whole enchanting territory to explore in many ways.<\/p>

Recently, the mining industry seems to want to impose open-pit mining of graphite on our territory. The threat of these mines disturbs the tranquility and potentially the health of thousands of citizens. They are mobilizing today to counter the arrival of mining exploration companies. The communities are determined to defend their rights to health and well-being, i.e., their quality of life in a precious natural environment rich in biodiversity. We do not want our territory to be sacrificed for considerations of financial gain camouflaged by ecological pretexts (greenwashing). La Petite-Nation is obviously a region incompatible with mining activity.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Over the centuries this valley, which has been carpeted by forests with streams, rivers and lakes, takes its name from the Petite-Nation river.<\/p>

Under the old name of “seigneury”, in 1674, the Petite-Nation valley was created, which means Oueskarinis, the name of the Algonquin people who occupied these lands permanently. This region then went through all the significant periods of our history, including the explorations of Champlain, the first colonization and the great adventure of attaining wood from the forests.<\/p>

The progressive development of these lands gave birth to the MRC de Papineau, which today includes 25 municipalities with a total population of more than 23,029 inhabitants over an area of \u200b\u200bapproximately 3,194 km2<\/sup>:<\/p>
